Our Story: Restoring the Land, Reviving the Sacred
La Perla is a community in Guácimo, Costa Rica.
For years, it served the pineapple industry—rows of monoculture, heavy chemicals, runoff in the rivers, and silence where forest once thrived.
Like many places shaped by industrial agriculture, it was efficient, but empty.
Noel Gómez grew up around that land.
He worked it. Walked it. Watched it change. When the plantation shut down, the soil was tired. But it wasn’t dead.
That’s when The Wonderland Project, began to take root—not as a plan to “save” the land, but to listen to it.

The Path from Healing to Heritage
What began with Noel’s hands restoring exhausted soil has now led us here: to a living lineage of cacao that bridges worlds—science, tradition, and regeneration.
At the heart of it is Theobroma cacao, specifically a locally cultivated Criollo-type variety, rare and genetically refined, thriving in the rich soils of Guácimo.
This variety is known for its striking red-tinged leaves—an indicator of anthocyanin presence and early plant vigor. In the cosmology of the Bribri and Cabécar peoples of Talamanca, those red leaves are something more: Sibö, the creator, gifted them as earrings to the cacao tree, marking it as sacred.
From that sacred origin, through biodiverse canopies and careful cultivation, comes a cacao that’s both uncommonly delicate and profoundly rooted. A plant of myth, memory, and molecular precision—this is the Criollo we call Elemental.
It grows at the heart of the Wonderland Project, a place envisioned not only as a regenerative farm, but as a cultural sanctuary—where cacao is just the beginning. Set among waterfalls, volcanic soils, and tropical abundance, Wonderland is evolving into a center for art, ceremony, and cacao-based tourism. A living canvas where creativity, ecology, and ancestral knowledge intersect. Here, the land inspires not only what we grow—but how we gather, create, and remember.
"At our core, we serve people—fostering regeneration, connection, and well-being.
And if chocolate is good, we honor it at its most elemental and true."
